It's Important to book ahead for baby photos

I get so many requests for newborn shots after the baby is born, and it's so sad because I am usually booked or they can't afford the fee right up front.  That is why it is so important to plan ahead.  Many photographers will work with you on payments as well as flexibility with the due date, so that we can ensure we get your baby in before they are 12 days old.

I prefer to work with newborns under 12 days old.  They still have that squishy face and are still very flexible and sleep the majority of the day. So when we book in advance I really just make sure I have a few spots available two weeks before and after your due date.  :)

I get asked why I charge more for my newborn sessions too.  Two reasons, one is a typical newborn session can last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours.  I typically cap at 4 hours, which means we call it and go with what we have.  So I have to make sure I have a reasonable rate for that much time as well as I usually can't book anything else after for that day.  They also require much more editing.  Those pictures of kiddos on logs, or babies on swings, stacks of books, your name it aren't real.  They aren't real in the sense that they aren't actually hanging freely on a swing or alone in the woods on a log.  The popular pictures of those smoothy faces are edited also.  They are typically made up of three photos with parents holding the child on one side at a time and then the photographer works to edit out the unwanted parts.  This kind of editing can slow a photographer down considerably.  :)

So it's best to decide if that is something you want shortly after finding out you are pregnant.  You can find photographers that work out payment plans, do gift certificates so friends/family/co-workers can chip in and purchase the certificate, or keep a look out for specials.  Those beautiful creative newborn images are so hard to create and recreate if you don't have experience.  Don't believe me? Google newborn Pinterest fails.  Then you'll believe me.  LOL

These images will live on long before we will, so do some research, find a photographer that will work with you.

For a limited time I'm offering a deep discount for 2014 newborn/maternity sessions.  You can make payments, or I do offer gift certificates.
